¹⁶ then I will do this to you: I will bring on you sudden terror, wasting diseases and fever^(A) that will destroy your sight and sap your strength.^(B) You will plant seed in vain, because your enemies will eat it.^(C)

¹⁵ The Lord will keep you free from every disease.^(A) He will not inflict on you the horrible diseases you knew in Egypt,^(B) but he will inflict them on all who hate you.^(C)

²² The Lord will strike you with wasting disease,^(A) with fever and inflammation, with scorching heat and drought,^(B) with blight^(C) and mildew, which will plague^(D) you until you perish.^(E)

²⁷ The Lord will afflict you with the boils of Egypt^(A) and with tumors, festering sores and the itch, from which you cannot be cured.

²⁸ The Lord will afflict you with madness, blindness and confusion of mind.

³⁵ The Lord will afflict your knees and legs with painful boils^(A) that cannot be cured, spreading from the soles of your feet to the top of your head.^(B)

²² Your children who follow you in later generations and foreigners who come from distant lands will see the calamities that have fallen on the land and the diseases with which the Lord has afflicted it.^(A)
